WOW Ruined My Life [7 comments]
My friend (and fellow vlogger) Kristina posted a song titled “World of Warcraft Ruined My Life”; anyone who plays or know someone who plays will completely understand!
My high school boyfriend got into Everquest and told me that if I wanted to spend time with him, I would have to play with him. He even made a character that looked like me. CREEPY. Needless to say, Jill and I both know better than to get into WOW. We don’t want our lives totally sucked into it! I prefer games with an “end” anyway.
Have you played WOW? Know anyone that got way too addicted?

I played on and off for a few years, it definitely has the ability to suck you in. I had to make rules for myself about how long i could play, when it was ok to join groups for instances, etc. otherwise I’d be up all night and/or not spend time with my wife. Finding a clock mod helped a lot, too (the one i had even let you set a timer). I eventually just got kinda bored with it though, haven’t played since lich king came out.
I just started playing again for the 6th? time. I more so use it as a monetary gain. I’ve got the same group of 10-15 people I’ve been playing with since vanilla WoW. We still play HoN together in between us playing again. I’ll usually level a character and raid semi seriously for a month or two, mainly just to check out new content, and sell the account for, well my highest was 1400. But back in high school I used to take the game WAY too seriously. Later on social life. I get burnt out too easily from the way I used to play.
I do play wow, and for awhile it was all i did. i was unemployed for about 6 months. but i got a job, lost 70 lbs. i still play but not nearly as much. it wasn’t wow’s fault though it was mine. i was lazy and could afford to get away with it. i dated a girl that played wow, but she was into way more than me and i had to break it off. she was crazy to boot.
Whenever someone is looking for a good MMORPG, and someone says WoW, I never talk to them again. I have played enough to know that you will lose your WHOLE social life if you become addicted. Where’s the WoW rehab?? Oh, it’s probably in Horde Territory. =P
Donny, that’s sweet you were able to make money on it! And Daniel, a clock mod is a good idea. Time limits would probably make it easier not to get sucked in.
hahaha, that’s the exact same reason I was too afraid to pick up a title, the stories about people passing out in front of their keyboard and never wake up, loss of social life, loss of friends, loss of girlfriend… I mean I don’t have one atm, but I don’t wanna STAY this way. Everyone did say it’s a great game though? Is it like eating the forbidden fruit?
A friend of mine finally quit WOW a week ago, I know I’ll never try it just for fear of it sucking me in, but Fallout 3 did that to me for a while too…
