Ugh. Wonder Woman’s Not Looking Good.

Over the past week, the new Wonder Woman logo and costume for NBC’s reboot have been released. And… they’re not so good. Wonder Woman is a strong, beautiful, powerful woman, and these make her look more like she’s a floozy tramp or member of a pop band. I’m not cool with this.

Come on guys. The old logo wasn't broke. Don't try to fix it.

This looks like a cheap, ill-fitting Halloween costume.

This costume just makes me sad. It looks cheap, uninspired, unflattering (except for the boobs, holy COW), and nothing that I’d aspire to be. Let alone the fact that stunts have to be tough to do in what appears to be a onesie. That’s some camel toe waiting to happen.

If Wonder Woman is going to be redone, it should be done well, with equal parts respect and sass. This is not what I’d expect at all.

What are your thoughts? Do you love it? Hate it? How do you think the series will turn out? Will it make it past the pilot?

Futurama NES Game

I want to drop everything I’m doing and play this game right now:

Seriously. Futurama, plus NES? Someone turn this into an actual game for me, please.

Giant Goodbye Cake.

I’ve been a long time fan of the Office, and I’ll admit my heart may have skipped a beat (in the bad way) back when they announced Steve Carell was leaving at the end of this season.

But as sad as I am to see him go, at least NBC is sending him out with a bang. Or a mug, I should say.

Rainn Wilson tweeted a picture of the cake that was sent to set to celebrate Carell’s last day filming with the rest of the cast.

I, for one, think it embodied the essence of Michal Scott perfectly. Over the top, excessive, hilarious, a bit awkward… not to mention it’s three feet tall.

I’m sad to see Carell go, but it will definitely be interesting to see what direction they take the show without him. Very, very interesting.

First look at Korra!

If you’re a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender and have been following the news, you know then that Nickelodeon is working on a sequel to premiere this November called Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

Yesterday, the first promo pictures were released for the cartoon.

The show is going to be a 12 part mini-series and revolves around Korra of the Southern Water Tribe, who is training to take over Aang’s role as the new Avatar 75 years in the future.

They’ve also announced some of the cast today as well! These are the actors slated to play the voices of many of the main characters in the show:

Janet Varney as KORRA
Kiernan Shipka as JINORA
Daniel Dae Kim as HIROSHI SATO
David Faustino as MAKO
Seychelle Gabriel as ASAMI
Lance Henricksen as LIEUTENANT
JK Simmons as TENZIN

Being the sequel of a cartoon that was way, way better than anyone ever expected it to be, I for one am completely stoked. My only complaint is that it will be so short.

Are you excited for Korra? Do you think they’ll be able to recapture of magic of the Avatar universe without the original characters from the show? Only time will tell, I guess.

Autotune the Oscars.

The most hilarious, surprising, YouTube-y segment that’s ever hit the Oscars.

Welcome to the autotune mashup (courtesy of YouTube’s own Gregory Brothers) of Harry Potter, Toy Story 3, The Social Network and Twilight.

(Re-uploaded by someone else after it was taken down.)

Let’s just say twitter and tumblr alike exploded when this was airing tonight.

What did you think? Did this segment make the Oscars a little too mianstream, or was it a nice change to see them doing something so ‘hip’?

Browncoats Gather in Support

There’s been a flurry of conversations and activity this week as browncoats hope for a possible comeback of their favorite show.

The talk began early this week with an article with a very misleading title from MTV Geek stating that “Firefly Returns… and Nathan Fillion is open to play Mal Again”. Yes, reruns of Firefly will be shown on the Science Channel, and Nathan Fillion has mentioned that he would be interested in reappearing as Mal or producing Firefly at some point (for instance, if he wins the CA state lottery), but those points are unrelated. There is no confirmation of Firefly coming back or Nathan Fillion doing anything with it, but that didn’t stop the fans from mobilizing.

Then this piece of TV magic occurred:

Nathan Fillion tweeted it out, and has been receiving mentions of support from former Firefly crew, as well as an outpouring from fans. Currently, fans are in talks of assisting Nathan Fillion in raising money to bring Firefly back. Want to join the cause? Join “Help Nathan Buy Firefly” on Facebook, visit their website, and follow Nathan Fillion on Twitter.

What would you be willing to do/give to get Firefly back on the air?

OMG, BSG MMOG!

For those not so fond of acronyms, SyFy games had opened it’s Battlestar Galactica Online Game to a free open beta this week. You can play as cylons. That all I needed to know.

If you decide to sign up, put your username in the comments! I’m ZaxyTara, and I’ll be playing a cylon (duh) in Scorpia EDIT: Caprica. My friends are lame and want to play in there, so I must too go. It’s my destiny.

Doctor Who Through the Ages

Whether you’re a hardcore Doctor Who fan or someone who’s stuck at their computer asking “Doctor WHO??”, this infographic is for you.

It gives a comprehensive recap of every season of Doctor Who, so those of you who skipped ahead and started with Nine when the new Season began in 2005 (it’s okay, I’m guilty too), here’s the perfect chance to go back and get to know Doctors 1-8 in a time-efficient manner.

And if you’re into Doctor Who, is anyone attending Gallifrey One in Los Angeles next weekend? If so, I’ll see you there! Come say hi!

Which Doctor is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Fergie’s Epic Gear.

I’m not going to pretend I paid attention to the Superbowl at all. I sat dutifully downstairs on my laptop, going through my feed on Tumblr and looking up every time there seemed to be a reasonably entertaining commercial, like usual.

That is, until the halftime show when Fergie walks onstage as a rogue in full Shadowcraft gear.

So… were we watching a halftime show, or running a dungeon?

Also, I’m disappointed she’d only have blue gear. You’d think for something like the Superbowl she’d need a higher gear score to get in.
