My Little Pony’s homage to Star Wars

Guys, I swear I’m not giving up until every single one of you watches the new MLP series, “Friendship is Magic”. In this season’s premiere (which aired this last Saturday on the Hub Network), the end scene (not to give away spoilers or anything) closely parodies an iconic scene from Star Wars.

Come on. HOW can this be a show for little girls?

Beautifully Done Dexter Theme

This just makes me want Dexter to start even more. I seriously got chills when the video started up. Well done, dude!

Do you watch Dexter? Excited for the upcoming season? I can’t wait to see Edward James Olmos in it!

Fall TV season!

This is a total lame cop-out of a post, but I realized I wanted to talk about the TV shows I am excited about starting up again this fall but that I had already done it once somewhere else. So behold.. I give you… one of my vlogs.

Because I am sort of a TV show junkie, I thought it might be fun to list all the shows I’m excited about returning and starting for the first time, as well as what network they air on, and the day they premiere. Do we watch any of the same shows? Are there any great shows that I’m forgetting about or exciting looking new ones that I may not have heard about yet?

Sorry to get all vloggy on you guys up in here… I promise I won’t do it again. You know, until next time I vlog about something relevant. I may have been sorted into Hufflepuff on Pottermore, but I’ve still got the laziness of a Slytherin.

Molly Quinn cosplays as Mal

Molly Quinn, who plays Nathan Fillion’s daughter on Castle, cosplayed as Captain Mal at SDCC. I have no words. Epic.

I already loved her on the show, but this just put her in “amazing people I need to meet IRL” territory. I think she and I would get along very well.

Are you a Castle fan? Will you watch now that there is more than one browncoat in the cast? (And if you are a Castle fan, what did you think of the doozy of a finale?)

Dexter’s Going To Be Better Than Ever

A new trailer was recently released for season 6 of Dexter. And I CAN’T WAIT. From other teasers and talk, it sounds like Dexter will be back to his old, serial killing ways, and perhaps will find some good in it all. But the best part? Effing Edward James Olmos will be a prominent character, specifically a professor of religious studies. And rumor has it, he may be the big bad evil guy of the season. Haven’t watched Dexter? You have the summer to catch up. Hurry!

Serenity – My Little Pony style

Guys, I tried. I really tried to keep my growing obsession with the new animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic off of Zaxy. I know that while the whole My Little Pony craze is growing in intensity every day, not everyone cares about it. Not everyone understands how a show meant for children that’s covered in hearts and pink things can actually appeal to our older generation.

But my bronies, I can’t keep this one from you. Check it out. The Serenity trailer, My Little Pony-ized:

Are you completely confused? Here’s an article from “Wired” magazine that explains the Pony phenomenon sweeping the internet.

I know many of you will probably go kicking and screaming before you give in and sit down to watch an episode of the show, but just know — eventually, curiosity will get the best of you. There wouldn’t be pony .gifs flooding 4chan for no reason. Give it a try. ;)

But hey, no pressure. It doesn’t hurt my feelings if you’re the only n00b who isn’t 20% cooler.

Ringer Preview!

Being the resident Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sarah Michelle Gellar fangirl of Zaxy, I figured it was my duty to show you the two previews for Ringer, the new show starring the lovely SMG this fall on the CW that were released yesterday.

“Television Without Pity” is calling Ringer one of the most promising looking new shows of the 2011-2012 season. That’s saying something, with everything Tara wrote about in her TV post!

And if you still need more convincing, let’s just take a moment to remember exactly how much ass SMG can kick. Here’s a link to the new TV spot for the Buffy reruns that will begin being aired on Teen Nick later this month.

Alcatraz & Grimm: New Shows This Fall

As our spring shows are wrapping up, the networks are looking forward to their upcoming shows. And some of them look really good!

Here are two I’m excited to see:

Alcatraz is J.J. Abram’s newest show and it looks amazing. I wasn’t a LOST watcher, but I’m a big fan of Fringe (and Cloverfield). I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of craziness comes from this. (And please FOX, give it a chance). This show will be a midseason premiere, so we may be waiting a bit.

I’m a fan of twisted fairy tales, especially when they’re dark and rooted in reality. So this show may have very well been made for me. And with the same producers as Buffy, this may bring back that bit of supernatural kick-ass fun that we’ve been missing on TV.

What are your thoughts? Will you be watching these shows? Any other shows coming out you’re excited for?

The Internet really DOES work!

A few weeks ago, there was an infographic going around online that claimed Nickelodeon was going to produce “new episodes of classic 90′s nicktoons” – which is every twenty-something’s DREAM, but so far fetched it makes me laugh.

However! The incident caused such a stir that it was recently announced that Teen Nick is in fact going to start airing reruns of all our old favorites. Later this year, you’ll be able to watch old episodes of Kenan & Kel, Rugrats, Pete & Pete, The Amanda Show, All That, and Clarissa Explains it All if you stay up late enough to catch them at their special midnight – 2 AM air time. The segment is to be called “The 90′s Are All That”.

This decision is credited to the interest Nickelodeon picked up on from various social media sites, so Tumblr? Twitter? Facebook? Give yourself a pat on the back.

According to EW.com,  Senior VP and general manager of Teen Nick said, “At the time, we were completely devoted to that audience ages 9, 10, and 11. It was ground-breaking and for the young viewers, a powerful and pivotal time in their lives. Those kids who are now 22, 23 and 24 want to bring that back.”

I mean, we wouldn’t have wanted new episodes anyway, right? They would have definitely messed up all our old favorite shows. This is the best decision Nickelodeon could have made, really.
