Don’t Copy That Floppy [5 comments]

October 17, 2011

I was shown this over the weekend, and I think the message still holds true.

I have to say, I’m actually pretty impressed that they show female gaming/programming representation in the video.
But be honest: How many of you don’t even know what a “floppy” is? I feel so old.

Awesome PS3 Commercial [Add a comment]

Bonus points if your name is Michael.

Thank goodness this isn’t about me. “Remember that time when we were about to be killed by the boss? And Tara just left because she was frustrated and needed a break? To Tara!”

How many of the characters can you name?

Epic Floppy Disc Imperial March [2 comments]

September 30, 2011

I’m pretty sure all I’ve done lately is post videos. There are just WAY too many awesome videos on the internet!

Check out the Imperial March, played on floppy disk drives. I totally thought this was going to be lame, and it absolutely blew me away.

Be honest: How many of you have actually seen/used a floppy disk IRL? They were the only way I could play Oregon Trail back in the day…

CONTEST: Win Ubisoft’s Battle Tag! [32 comments]

September 13, 2011

I LOVE laser tag. I used to go down to our local laser tag arena weekly for their Sunday evening “All You Can Play” session. But as I got older, I just didn’t feel right about making 8-year-old boys cry anymore. So I needed to find somewhere else to play. I moved on to buying laser tag sets of my own, starting with Hasbro’s Lazer Tag NERF. These guns were pretty cool, and had a good feel to them, but there was only so long that my friends and I could run aimlessly around shooting each other.

Enter Ubisoft’s Battle Tag. This system comes with guns and vests, but also comes with ammo, base and “med pack” stations, and a set up to play multiple types of games and keep score of the players. You can play teams, individually, tag-style games, and even have a Wild West-style duel. One of our favorite games will tag you as “The Wolf,” and you must try to tag someone else by shooting them, while everyone is running away from you, trying to bank points at one of the base stations.

Kristina and I got together with some of my friends, put on matching patriotic kitten shirts and war paint, and headed out to play. Check out the footage:

We obviously had a blast. I would totally recommend this product to anyone looking for a fun way to get a bit of exercise and turn that FPS you love into a (less dangerous) reality.

Want to try Battle Tag yourself? The systems are a bit hard to find at the moment, but lucky for you, we have a set to give away! Leave a comment letting us know your dream laser tag scenario. Where would you play? With who? What mode? We’ll randomly select a winner on September 26th. (And we’d LOVE if the winner could send in photos/videos of them playing with the set. We’ll even post them!)

Edits with more Info:

This contest will be for US only, unfortunately.

The Battle Tag Starter Set we are giving away includes:
2 Sensor vests
2 T-blasters
2 Ammo Packs
2 Bases
“UbiConnect” RF Rx/Tx device
Install CD
Manual

The set retailed for $129.99, and had an extremely limited run.

WE HAVE A WINNER! The winner of the laser tag set (picked by Random.org) is:
#15, GENEVIEVE!
Genevieve, please email tara@zaxy.com with your full name and address, so we can get the laser tag set out to you!

Thanks to all who entered!

Well, this about sums up my feelings on Mondays. Also, Freddy’s awesome.

How many gaming references did you see? (I saw a whole lot of GTA with a spot of Frogger myself.)

SFW Star Wars Porn Parody [1 comment]

August 10, 2011

I’m sorry, and you’re welcome.

This video is hilarious, and I think it should be left at that. Because I just don’t even want to know when and where the porn comes in, and with who.

And seriously, is it THAT tough to find a female porn actress that can actually act? (Luke, on the other hand, is pretty fantastic.)

How To: Turn To The Dark Side [Add a comment]

June 21, 2011

Hello! I’m thrilled to be back in the US and just in time for the start of summer!

When I was a kid, the first day of summer would be like the start of a new year: a chance to create resolutions and pick up new projects. A time to recreate myself before the next school year. Even though I now have to work through summers like a big kid (boo), I still like to pick a few projects to work on. If you’re still looking for something to do, may I suggest this Howcast video to get you started?

Step 6: Profit.
