As our spring shows are wrapping up, the networks are looking forward to their upcoming shows. And some of them look really good!
Here are two I’m excited to see:
Alcatraz is J.J. Abram’s newest show and it looks amazing. I wasn’t a LOST watcher, but I’m a big fan of Fringe (and Cloverfield). I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of craziness comes from this. (And please FOX, give it a chance). This show will be a midseason premiere, so we may be waiting a bit.
I’m a fan of twisted fairy tales, especially when they’re dark and rooted in reality. So this show may have very well been made for me. And with the same producers as Buffy, this may bring back that bit of supernatural kick-ass fun that we’ve been missing on TV.
What are your thoughts? Will you be watching these shows? Any other shows coming out you’re excited for?
Over the past week, the new Wonder Woman logo and costume for NBC’s reboot have been released. And… they’re not so good. Wonder Woman is a strong, beautiful, powerful woman, and these make her look more like she’s a floozy tramp or member of a pop band. I’m not cool with this.
Come on guys. The old logo wasn't broke. Don't try to fix it.
This looks like a cheap, ill-fitting Halloween costume.
This costume just makes me sad. It looks cheap, uninspired, unflattering (except for the boobs, holy COW), and nothing that I’d aspire to be. Let alone the fact that stunts have to be tough to do in what appears to be a onesie. That’s some camel toe waiting to happen.
If Wonder Woman is going to be redone, it should be done well, with equal parts respect and sass. This is not what I’d expect at all.
What are your thoughts? Do you love it? Hate it? How do you think the series will turn out? Will it make it past the pilot?
Emerald City Comicon is coming up this weekend, and we can’t wait!
We’ll be tweeting, filming, and taking pics from the convention hall all weekend, and will be attending a variety of awesome events. Take a look at the details below, and stop by and join us!
Convention With guests like Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton, and Buffy and Fringe cast members, we’re there. There will also be tons of amazing comic authors (both for the print and web), as well as other fun pop culture booths and panels.
Buffy Sing-Along On Friday at 8pm, we’ll be at the Buffy-Sing Along of Buffy’s most musical episode: “Once More, with Feeling”.
NERDprov! See the Zaxy ladies perform as special guests at Unexpected Productions’ NERDprov at 10:30pm on Friday! I (Tara) will be performing, Kristina and Britt will be guest judging. (And they’ll be extra nice to Tara… right?!?) Show your ECCC badge at the door for $10 tickets.
Geek Girl Flashmob! We’ll be dancing along with a bunch of other geek girls in the convention center at 11am on Saturday. Join us! (And maybe… just maybe… we’ll be in our TMNT costumes.) After the Flashmob, we’ll be heading over to Shorty’s for Geek Girl Con’s lunch.
James Marsters and Kirby Krackle Concert Come see James Marsters and Kirby Krackle play at the Hard Rock Cafe! Show starts at 7:30pm on Saturday. Awesomeness will be had.
Will you be joining us at ECCC? What are you most excited to see?
The folks at LandlineTV did a great job with this spoof: Dexter in 60 Seconds (ok, so it’s more like 79 seconds).
Spoilers if you’ve never seen a season of Dexter and don’t know what the typical plot arcs are…
I love Dexter to pieces (heehee!) but the show is fairly predictable. I’ve been known to speak lines along with characters during my first viewing of especially dramatic scenes.
NBC is premiering a new superhero drama on Sunday, called “The Cape”.
It looks like there are mixed reviews leading up to it, and if you just listen to the trailer, it sounds like a cop drama (probably because the main character is a former cop).
New episodes of Futurama are less than two weeks away, and I can’t wait. I spent my weekend watching old episodes and trying to figure out how to make Popplers for the special occasion.
Haven’t seen Futurama before? WHY? And more importantly, why not start when it comes back on June 24th?
Here is a short recap narrated by the wonderfully arrogant Zapp Brannigan to get new watchers familiar with the characters, and to remind us older fans why we love the show so much. Seriously, just hearing the opening music gives me happy chills.
Post your fave Futurama epsiode in the comments! (Mine is and always will be Amazon Women In The Mood.)
(And for those living under a space rock, new episodes of Futurama will be aired on Comedy Central starting on Thursday, June 24th at 10pm.)
Lucasfilm is reportedly developing a Star Wars animated comedy series with the “Robot Chicken” team. No network has been mentioned yet, but I wouldn’t surprised if this was a Comedy Central or Adult Swim kind of thing.
As Seth Green, one of the Robot Chicken creators said, “The ‘Star Wars’ universe is so dense and rich; it’s crazy to think that there aren’t normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined. What do these characters do when they’re not overthrowing empires?”
What do you think about a Star Wars animated comedy?
I personally think that there’s only room for one animated comedy space series in this Universe, and Futurama’s got it.
