Every once in a while I like to peruse the goods found on cragslist, and today I found the good-est of all.
A real, live, sorcerer for hire.
“I’ve handled divorce and domestic relationship cases, stalking and work place harassment and general bullying issues. Also attacks by Demons, Ghosts and people practicing Satanic Evil Black Magic. ”

Last week Britt and I got to try something AWESOME: Gamma World.
As you know, I’m the D&Der of the group. And while D&D is great, I’ve never been super into Fantasy. So when I heard I could play a D20 RPG that was a bit more up my alley (Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi?) I was all “Hells Yeah!”
Take a look at some of my experiences and clips from the game here:
When I play Tabletop RPGs, I play with my improv buddies. Which means we make it really tough on the GM. In the past I’ve played with small talking dragons, I’ve carried multiple canoes with me “just in case”, I’ve made myself shallow, diamond hungry characters whose sole goal was to find and wear a tiara… but with Gamma World, you can practically do anything. You start off rolling dice to get your character’s two origins, so it starts off pretty random, and you get to make the best of it from there. I mean, I was Zoltar (based on my origin cards of “Hypercognitive” and “Android), for Pete’s sake. But don’t think that’s where your character stops. Depending on the GM and your dice rolls, you may end up with extra abilities (or limbs) throughout the game.
If you like D&D, try Gamma World. If you don’t like D&D, try Gamma World. Seriously. It’s available for sale TODAY.
Wanna give it a go before you you shell out the bucks? Visit your local gaming store for Gamma World game day, this Saturday, October 23! You’ll get to play the same adventure we played (although we only went an hour into it… it’s a 4 hour campaign), and you’ll get some special cards ONLY available on Game Day. Can’t wait to see what they are? Feel free to decode this one!
I’m also looking at getting a game started and Livestreamed in November. More details to come, but it’ll include you getting to chat directly with the GM and influence the gameplay!
If you go to the Game Day or pick up Gamma World, let us know what kind of character you end up being! And check out Britt’s post for a POV from someone who’s never played D&D before.
So, I was initially brought on to Zaxy as the official Harry Potter girl, but aside from trying to make you all jealous with stories of how I’ve already been to the acclaimed HP theme park, I have very little in the way of news from the Boy Who Lived.
However! For those of you who are looking for something similar in literary awesomeness and suspense, the final installment in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games comes out tonight at midnight, and Harry Potter fans everywhere are looking at their wands and cloaks with nostalgia as they prepare for their Hunger Games midnight release parties.
The Hunger Games is a fantastic series set in a dystopian future where the Capitol keeps the remaining twelve districts in fear by forcing them to offer two child tributes each year to compete in the Games, an area-style battle royal where twelve to eighteen year olds fight each other to the death while their families and friends at home are forced to watch on television.
If you ever liked Harry Potter, I’d suggest giving this trilogy a try. And if you see the girl in the Slytherin cloak waiting in line for her copy tonight, that’s me. Old habits die hard.
Seattle had the world record for largest zombie gathering, but some music festival in England narrowly stole it from us. We’re going to take it back, and we’re hoping to get 10,000 zombies to be in one place at one time!
Brittney and I will be hanging out, decked out in zombie garb. We’ll be playing Dead Rising 2, watching zombie fashion shows (I didn’t know zombies cared so much about their looks!), dancing to Thriller, and just rocking out, undead style.
Come join us! We’ll be tweeting/vlogging throughout the event, and would love to hang with you.
You can register online for only $3 here (and skip the huge line tomorrow) or you can register for $5 at the door. By registering, your name will be sent to the Guinness World Records as part of the largest zombie event!
Zombies not your thing? Then go see Kristina sing some Harry Potter rock in Bellevue! Details: July 3 – 6:30pm Lewis Creek Park Visitors Center 5808 Lakemont Blvd. Bellevue, WA 98009 $10 – ALL AGES
We hope to see you this weekend, and wish you all a fun (and safe) 4th of July! Seriously, don’t blow yourself up with modded fireworks. I know how you guys are…
Because you’re sick of your fake bear skin that you got last year, you hipster! Jokes. Apparently these bad boys don’t come out until August 25th but that won’t stop me! I want a Wampa Rug from ThinkGeek.com and I want one naoooooooow! Hmph. By the way, anyone want a golden goose egg?! I got a million of these things and I’m sick of ‘em.
Before you shower, next time ask yourself “Do I want just a shower? Or do I want to bathe myself in the force with the Rebel & Empire alliance?” That should be a sexy time! ……With yourself. *awkward* DID I MENTION THEY HAVE SNES CARTRIDGE BAR SOAP?!
I hate to do this to you, but if I don’t come clean today, someone else will reveal our secret.
We’re not who we say we are. Don’t get me wrong, all of these posts have been true and from our hearts. We love gaming and geekery… but we’re not girls.
The girls you see in the photo to your right have been hired by us. They’ve made a couple appearances as “Zaxy” and did a little photo shoot. But in all honestly, they’re not us.
In fact, those girls don’t know their Star Trek from their Star Wars. Tara just babbles on about magazines and Twilight, and Jill does nothing but quote Beyonce lyrics. I once asked her nicely to be quiet, and she just started shouting something about being a Diva. Yikes.
Allow me to introduce the real “Jill” and “Tara”. Our names are Jason and Tyler.
I’m Tyler. This photo was taken at one of my fave comic stores: They had a bunch of this book, and since I know I’m a “geek”, I thought this would make the perfect facebook photo.
This is Jason, he writes as “Jill”. This photo was taken about 4 years ago, but it’s still his favorite. He uses it for EVERYTHING.
You probably have some questions. I’ll see if I can answer most of them in this post for you.
Q: Seriously? A: Seriously. You never thought of it? Come on. You think a girl ACTUALLY thinks Star Trek cologne is cool?
Q: I knew you were too 1337 to be girls. A: So did we. That’s why we’re guys.
Q: Can we just have the girls back? A: Yes. We’ll keep the girls’ photos up and continue to write from their voices because it’s fun.
Q: But I met the girls at (insert convention here)! A: It’s true. You met the actors. Tell me, did they babble on about magazines and Beyonce? They’re paid actresses so they shouldn’t have, but damn are those girls high maintenance. Jill asked to be paid entirely in adorable puppies and Tara wanted nothing more than a “bathtub full of pink glitter”.
Q: You still seem kinda cool. Could we meet you guys? A: Unfortunately, Jason hasn’t left his house for 3 years for fear of the sun. We communicate entirely through ChatRoulette. I just have to keep “nexting” until I find him. It’s tedious. But I’m up for a beer!
Q: Good sir, what day is it? A: Why it’s the 1st of April, why do you ask?
SMBC (Or Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal) is a comic I’ve been enjoying for a while. It’s dark, often borderline offensive or NSFW, and hilarious. Topics often include superheros, science, and relationships.
