Thank goodness this isn’t about me. “Remember that time when we were about to be killed by the boss? And Tara just left because she was frustrated and needed a break? To Tara!”
Ah, poor Sony. They might as well be walking around with a target on their forehead.
A few days ago, hacker group Lulzec hacked into PBS and published a story claiming that Tupac and Biggie Smalls were alive and well in New Zealand.
They have now set their crosshairs on Sony, if recent tweets are any indicator.
“We’re working on another Sony operation. We’ve condensed all our excited tweets into this one: this is the beginning of the end for Sony” They tweeted.
The group later followed up with another tweet, threatening to implement the first phase of their attack within 24 hours. “Our #Sonage (Sony + ownage) is going at maximum speed, there’s a lot to do”
But this is the best part! They totally missed their own deadline, as nothing happened. Silly hackers. Oh, but what’s this? They have an excuse?
“Sony happens when Sony happens – we’re celebrating our victory right now. The fun will never stop!” They tweeted.
Oh of course. They needed to celebrate their bogus Tupac article making headlines. YAY! Let’s celebrate being douchebags together!

According to TredMicro’s online security expert Kevin Stevens, “low-level cybercriminals” have claimed to be shopping around databases containing credit card information belonging to 2.2 million PSN users.
The information, supposedly available on “illegal forums”, is said to contain mailing addresses, email addresses with corresponding passwords, credit card numbers, expiration dates and the three digit security codes.
RUT ROH.
But before you fret (even harder than you might be), there’s a good chance this is all a bogus attempt to phish information from the bastards that would consider purchasing this information.
Sony has said that it doesn’t store the three digit security code found on the back of credit cards.
“Yeah, this information about the [three-digit security code] numbers could be bogus. The guys selling the [database] could just be making it up,” said Stevens.
Anyway, it’s still a good idea to keep your eye on your biz, if you nah’whatim’sayin.
Ahh, yes. I can hear the collective sound of disappointed “AWWWs” now.
Ubisoft has “empathetically” told IGN that the self proclaimed sexy, quirky party game We Dare will “absolutely not see release in the United States.”
You know what’s hilarious? Ubisoft blocked North American viewers from accessing the official trailer on YouTube. It’s like, really? You’re so ashamed of this game your company is making that you block access to it? I feel like I just got parental control’d on my internet.
Anyway, for some laughs check out the official description I found on We Dare’s site:
We Dare
Product DescriptionWeDare is a sexy, quirky, party game that offers a large variety of hilarious, innovative and physical, sometimes kinky, challenges. The more friends you invite to party, the spicier the play!
Provocative Controls Use your controller in the most unexpected ways, as you’ve never imagined before… wave it around to the beat of your favourite tunes, old and new… sometimes co-operative hugging helps, and it certainly doesn’t hurt. Enjoy the unique game play designed for the use of the Wii-mote or the Move controller exclusively made for WeDare. And there’s more! You can also use your Wii Balance Board for additional game play based on pure mass… are you the lightest one in the group? Perhaps shedding some clothes will even the playing field… it’ll definitely make the party more interesting!
A Customized and Enticing ExperienceCreate and customize your own cheeky avatar, from head to toe. Personalize him or her to fit your taste, to match your likeness or be the person you’ve always thought you could be. Are you a Femme Fatale? A Jock? The Girl Next Door? Create the game to your liking. Choose the length of play and the size of your group… in this game, size does matter… the bigger the group, the better the fun, and anything goes! Get up-close and personal with your friends with this wide variety of naughty and silly challenges. Use your smarts… or just pure luck if you have to… to answer pop-trivia questions and ultimately out-perform your playmates while proving you’re flexible, uninhibited and adventurous. This is an invitation to let yourself go, because life is short and what happens in this game… stays in the game!
And a satisfying finishThe final peak of the game ends in a light hearted, match-making session. Which of your friends is your best match for Love or Friendship? How you play, how you answer questions, how well you perform, and finally, how you chose to create your avatar, will ultimately determine your perfect match.

Any fan of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series knew a reveal of the third installment was imminent (especially with the VGAs airing this Saturday) but today’s reveal of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception by Entertainment Weekly caught many by surprise. But it’s here, and I’m happy, you’re happy, if you’re not happy, GTFO.
Let’s get down to it.
Confirmed for a late 2011 release, Uncharted 3 will follow Nathan Drake as he tries to locate something big and shiny (specifically, the fabled city Atlantis of the Sands ) in the Rub’ al Khali’ Desert. But it sounds like Drake will be making a few pit stops along the way. According to Naughty Dog’s community strategist Arne Meyer, Nate’s newest adventure will take you “all over the world.”
“Throughout Uncharted 3, you’ll be taken to spectacular new locations around the globe, that will showcase all of the work we’ve taken on to take acclaimed physics, particle and visual effects to a new level.”
And what of the multiplayer?
“Competitive and co-op multiplayer will return as a key ingredient to the Uncharted 3 package, where all of the new features we have planned will combine with our signature single-player cinematic gameplay to create a unique action-adventure multiplayer experience that can only be found in the Uncharted universe.”
You know what? I think the desert is the *perfect* setting for Nate’s latest adventure. But I want to make it perfectly clear that my opinion has absolutely nothing to do with the slim chance that the overbearing sun would become too much and Nate would be forced to remove his shirt.
Nothing to do with that at all.
Look for the official world premiere this Saturday on the VGAs.
A giant thank you to everyone who supported Britt and I during our quest to play video games for 24 hours straight. Whether you donated, played along, visited us, or chatted with us on our livestream, all of the support we received was amazing and an excellent motivation to keep on playing. Especially at 5am when things started getting rough.
(A bit of our livestream when Michael Robles was over teaching us Magic)
And now: My recap of some of my favorite happenings. Probably not in correct time order, as the whole 24 hours is one jolly sleepy blur in my mind.
-I played L4D for the first time. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m still getting the hang of FPS, but I don’t think I was too awful! Zombies are scary, man. And the witch totally killed me. Twice.
-Michael Robles of WOTC visited, and showed Britt and I how to play Magic: The Gathering, thanks to the Xbox Live game, Duels of the Planeswalkers. Their tutorial was really good and I’m excited to try an actual card game! A bunch of my guy friends (Forest, Zach, Alexander, and one of Zach’s friends) hung out and played some Magic cards while Britt and I got back to more video games. We also chatted a bit about all of our new fave thing: Gamma World. Be on the lookout for a review in the next day or so!
-Jim from Kirby Krackle visited with goodies in hand. We played some Guitar Hero. Apologies to those watching while I stumbled through my first couple tries with the game. I’m good at finding beats and rhythm in songs, but something about music-based games freak me out. Those dots coming up… I just get flustered. Which is why I hadn’t played much of Guitar Hero, DDR, or Rock Band before. But let me just say: By the time 7:30am came along, I was slowly getting the hang of it. I’m still not ready to go off “Easy”, but I at least know what I’m doing and how to hit the notes!
-Seattle Geekly stopped by and brought along Brunswick Bowling for PS3 Move. They were pros! Bowling was a nice, calm yet active break from our other gaming. We also did a bit of “Just Dance”, as neither of them had tried it before. Matt didn’t want to have anything to do with it, but ended up rocking with the high score!
-Fire Alarm. While Seattle Geekly was over, the fire alarm in my building went off. We all evacuated. Britt started grabbing all of her consoles and throwing them in a box so she could take them with her. I grabbed my DS so we could continue gaming while we were outside. I didn’t want our 24 hours of gaming to not count due to a fire-related technicality! It turned out a baby on the 2nd floor grabbed the alarm, and there was no fire. Or as the chatters on our Ustream said, we were “pwned by a baby”.
-Just Dance: Happy Feet Style. My friend Lisa stopped by, dressed as a penguin. Apparently she just finished shopping for her Halloween costume and got cold, so she put it on. Ustreamers were loving this, so we had her “Just Dance” as a penguin. Gifs were made. Lisa is now internet famous.
As the night went on, our energy declined. We tried a couple fun things to stay awake, including playing Resident Evil while blasting pop songs. We beat a giant snake while listening to Britney Spear’s “Toxic”, and listened to songs like “Backstreet’s Back”, “Bye Bye Bye” and “Genie in a Bottle” while blasting the heads off of zombies.
We kept playing Just Dance, Guitar Hero, and even a bit of Wii Yoga near the very end of the night to keep moving. Even though Britt looked like she was gonna kill me if I didn’t let her get some sleep.
If you wanted to donate but didn’t get the chance, you still can. Extra Life will be accepting donations until November 15, 2010. They’ve already earned over $430,000…. I’d love to see what us geeks can do in the next couple weeks!
I’ve been away all weekend exploring the westernesque town of Winthrop, enjoying horseback riding and wishing I was none other than John Marston.
But, uh, I’ll leave that “topic” to another post.
Anyway, I’m just now catching up on all of the news I had missed while away. As I’ve been scrolling through the articles, I’ve been seeing all too familiar headlines. Whether it is this developer pimping this new hardware, sales figures and hours logged for Reach, or Bobby Kotick running his mouth, it’s all same-ol same-ol.
But then I see this headline:
“Sony: Counterfeit PS3 controllers can explode”
HELLO!
Apparently controllers that are “identical in appearance to genuine PlayStation 3 wireless controllers” have been making their rounds.
“SCEA advises consumers to be cautious when buying PlayStation 3 Wireless Controllers from uncertain sources as the quality, reliability and safety of counterfeit products is uncertain, and in some cases, may be dangerous.
“It is possible that some counterfeit product may ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, or other property.”
*snort*
I can’t help but laugh at this.
You think lag is frustrating? Imagine if a controller friggen’ exploded in your hands.
Perhaps it’s the idea of the extra goodies (that come in the extra expensive editions) perched in my future woman cave, but I have as hard of a time saying no to them as I would saying no to Alistair should he materialize and ask me to join him in holy matromony.
For example:
I told myself I wasn’t going to fork over the money for the MW2 Prestige Edition, but I ended up doing so at the last minute when launch night came. I couldn’t stand it.
I spent a stupid amount of money on the Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter Edition, but since the money went to Haiti my wallet didn’t sting as much as it should have.
After falling in love with Dragon Age, I needed the collector’s edition. I frantically searched Amazon until I found a copy and bought it on the spot.
I still have the Bioshock 2 collector’s edition and God of War 3 collector’s edition on my shelf. Did I mention they are still sealed, as in unopened and never played? No? Well they are.
So yeah, I have a hard time saying no, even when I know I won’t be able to play them anytime soon. I mean, I’ll get to Bioshock 2 and God of War 3 someday, but for the time being they just sit, look boxy and wink at me.
Ahem.
AJKDFJIDJFKDFJLDJKIUOS!!!!!!
Are you guys aware of the insane amount of collector’s editions coming our way?! A part of me is as giddy as a school girl, the other part of me is cringing at the thought of my thinning wallet.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
I only played a tiny bit of LoS while at E3. Although I can’t say it would be a definite buy for me, my grandma is so pumped about this game I’ll probably get it due to her enthusiasm. 80 buckaroos for this bad boy.
Gran Turismo 5
Besides Mario Kart, I’m not a huge fan of the genre. But I know tons of you are probably drooling or piddling yourself thinking of GT5, so I figured I’d put it up. This will run you 99 bucks.
Mafia II
Some people are pretty pumped about Mafia II. Me not so much, but then again I’ve never been a huge fan of GTA titles, and those are what Mafia II remind me of. I played like 10 minutes of the first Mafia in preparation of Mafia II at PAX East, where I played a short demo. Anyway, this will run you 70 bucks.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
I watched my friend play the first but never played myself. I’m totally digging the USB drive. This will cost 80 bucks.
Fallout: New Vegas
Need I say more? 80 bucks.
Fable III
Ahhh Fable 3. Will you hold my attention longer than your predecessor, Fable 2? Actually, it’s my own fault I got sick of Fable 2. I dinked around with the side quests so much I lost interest in the main story. Anyway, the CE will cost ya 80 bucks and includes new quests, locations, playing cards, a guild seal coin, new dog breed and a unique outfit, according to the PR.
Dead Rising 2
THE ZOMBREX EDITION. I am so excited for this. Dead Rising’s save system frustrated me to no end, but I still love the game, and anything collector’s edition with zombies is right up my alley. The PS3 and 360 collector’s editions are slightly varied, so if you’re picking this up make sure you do your research! This will run you 80 bucks.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Love Assassin’s Creed? Love a good jack-in-the-box? Then here you go. Quite frankly, this freaks me out, but if you want this collector’s edition be ready to shell out 100 bucks.
Halo: Reach
Halo: Reach not only offers the super-duper Legendary edition (pictured above) but will have a Limited edition available for purchase as well. The Legendary edition will cost a whopping 150 bucks and the Limited will set you back 80.
Ah yes, I can hear the screams of an empty bank account now.
I know I’ve missed some. If you can think of any others, let me know!
Do you usually splurge on the collector’s editions for a game, or stick with the good ol’ regular version?
