Download Portal for Free! [2 comments]

Portal’s convincing teachers that it’s an educational game by giving it away for free (until September 20th). If you haven’t played the game yet, GO! Go get it now!

…And since it’s “educational”, that means you can play it instead of doing homework. Right? Isn’t that how things work?

Play Portal for Free on Steam.

Playable Portal/Mario Game? YES YES YES PLEASE. [Add a comment]

August 31, 2011

Developers at Stabyourself.net are making an actual, playable game starring Mario with a Portal gun. OMG. AND there will be a potentially very confusing co-op mode.

They’re not sure when it’ll be coming out, but there’s a good chance I may be calling sick into work that day.

Live Action Portal Video [2 comments]

The short film Portal: No Escape is freaking amazing. See for yourself:

I loved some of her uses for the Portals- that’s some quick, smart thinking!

Who would want to see a full-length version of this? (Raises hand)

Thanks to Jorge and David for showing me the film!

Portal 2 is Delayed [3 comments]

November 18, 2010

Portal 2 is delayed. And Valve announced it by creating the best Press Release ever.

So without further ado, the entire press release:

VALVE ANNOUNCES SHORTEST DELAY IN VALVE HISTORY

Valve today announced that Portal 2 — the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date — will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve’s proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date.

Real Life Portal Guns! [4 comments]

March 11, 2010

I’m loving this video of a real life Portal gun. My one complaint: I don’t have one for myself.

Seriously, where can I get one?

What would you use a portal gun for if you had one? Would you use it to be lazy and go through walls instead of doors? Or make the front of a drive-through window go directly to your kitchen?

Will There Be Cake This Time? [1 comment]

March 5, 2010

cake

We were on the edge of our seats the other day, when Valve announced a new patch for Portal. What does this mean? Could we expect a Portal 2?

Well, it looks like our questions were answered, and it’s better than I could have imagined. Valve put out the following release today:

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Left 4 Dead, Counter-Strike and Half-Life) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Portal 2 for shipment this coming holiday season.

Portal 2 is the sequel to 2007′s Portal, which won 70 industry achievement awards.

So not only will there be a Portal 2, but we get a rabbit hole to a (probably wicked awesome) ARG? BEST DAY EVER. I bet there’s cake, too.

I’ll be lurking in the Unfiction forums waiting for clues on the ARG. If you find anything out soon, let me know in the comments! (And I’ve been told www.aperturescience.com may have something to do with it.)

EDIT: Need a quick hint to get you started? Take a look at the underlined letters in the release. Have fun!
