Wow. Is that Travis McCoy from the Gym Class Heros with a turtle backpack on? NO? It’s a teenage mutant ninja turtle backpack sold at Hot Topic that is sure to make you look like an idiot. This backpack irritates me beyond belief for some reason. Any 14 year old hipster wearing this backpack with that dinky little eye band, I’ll go Shredder on your face for disgracing one of my favorite childhood cartoons. You’re not cute, you never watched the show and THE TURTLES ARE NOT A TREND!
I’m psyched to be joining Jill on this blog and all of her adventures. We’ll be joining forces to introduce each other to even more wonderfully geeky things, and I’m excited to get some videos up to show you all!
But today I wanted to start a discussion on something that’s always been tough for me: LARPing.
What is the fine line between “playing pretend” and “Live Action Role Playing”? Is there a difference? Are children who pretend to be superheros actually LARPing?
LARPing has some stigma attached to it, and I’ve been careful to name all of my close encounters with it as “interactive parties”, “flash mobs”, or “guerrilla street theater”. However, it might be time for me to look at my costumed self in the mirror and decide once and for all: am I a LARPer?
NightZero, the amazing post-apocalyptic, zombie thrilled, webcomic & graphic novel team, did a special cosplay photoshoot on L4D characters. It’s titled ‘Left 5 Dead’ on their Flickr. (Check out the full L5D set here!)
(Thats my friend Tara in the above picture!)
I think they did a pretty dang good job if I don’t mind saying so myself! Whoever is playing Bill is FANTASTIC! This looks like a blast! I want to do one!
P.s. Seattlites – Night Zero is throwing their graphic novel pre-order party in Seattle on Saturday, March 6th. Dress up as zombie or post-apocalyptic survivor & party like its the end of the world! Click here details. Should be fun!
(Thank you to Tara, who is as beautiful dead as I wish I was alive!)
My first photoshoot was fun but I was crazy nervous! I love the people at Less Avenged though, they are amazing! Check out my video from the Less Avenged photoshoot I did last week!
These are some stock photos found in a Gamespy article on how photographers portray gamers. They’re absolutely hilarious! Do people think this is actually what we look like? Do we look like this while we’re playing? I freakin better not! I’d rather wear a mask than look like some of these fools.
Your barista is: Admiral Ackbar. Today he recommends: “It’s A Frap!” “We can’t repel a flavour of that magnitude!”
How much is it? I want one!
It’s a shame that Admiral Ackbar resorted to work as a coffee barista before his retirement. Guess working for the New Republic’s provisional government didn’t pay off too well. I’d surely tip him a credit or two!
