Fans of the book Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card probably know a movie has been rumored and talked about for the better part of the last… twenty-five years. But this time, it looks like it’s really happening! It’s been announced that Gavin Wood (who directed Wolverine) will be directing it, and recently a bunch of casting calls were put out for the film, including all the major roles (including Ender himself!)
There has been a call for ten characters to be cast, and according to an exclusive look on i09, the character descriptions and what we’ve been able to see of the script all look pretty solid in terms of this film following the book closely. The book tackles some hard topics like how dangerous and intense war can be and how important it is to understand your enemy, and as far as can be told now, the movie isn’t shying away from these more difficult themes. Thank goodness.
As always, nothing is 100% set in stone, but this is a lot more than we’ve ever been given before with regard to Ender’s Game becoming a movie. So for now, we sit and wait with fingers crossed that they do everyone’s favorite sci-fi book justice and give us the movie we’ve all been waiting for.
So, you’ve heard that the Hunger Games movie is in production, right? Good.
If you’ve been following the news of the casting that’s been coming out in the past few weeks, you’ll know we already have a handful of the characters/actors announced:
Katniss Everdeen: Jennifer Lawrence Peeta Mellark: Josh Hutcherson Thresh: Dayo Okeniyi Rue: Amandla Stenberg Marvel: Jack Quaid Glimmer: Leven Rambin
But if you want to follow the casting of the remainder of the Tributes, there’s this cool page on Facebook you can follow that they’ve been updating with each District’s tributes as they come in. It’s kind of creepy actually; each District’s boy and girl has been cast and announced at the same time (which I’m sure is something they’re doing on purpose). It’s like a present day Reaping. I hope these actors know what they’re signing up for…
If the new Tron Legacy trailer doesn’t give you goosebumps, you might be a robot.
If you are a die-hard fan of the original Tron, you may be critical and less than optimistic on the new Tron Legacy film that’s coming out. However, if you’re someone like me who wasn’t totally in love with the original, you can only have high hopes thats it’s going to be as good as it looks in the trailer!
Regardless of what kind of fan you are, die-hard or not at all, nobody can deny the awesomeness of Jeff Bridges, along with the incredible special effects & soundtrack this movie is set to have.
Take a look at the original Tron (1982) in comparison to Tron Legacy (2010)
I’m so excited for it to come out at the end of this year!
