I saw this instructional picture for how to make dollar bill t-shirts on reddit the other day and I decided I’d give it a try. Let me just say that steps 4, 5 & 6 were real doozies for me but I managed to get it done.
I know one sleeve is larger than the other but SHHHHH! The little man that’s going to wear this has an abnormally large bicep on one arm!
Some kid with a MASSIVE Lego Star Wars collection decided to make a stop-motion movie on the original trilogy. It’s freakin amazing!
If you ask me, the kid got some professional help making the movie. I don’t see how a kid that young could have produced something so difficult and awesome at an age like that. Unless….. he used the FORCE! He’s a Jedi! What a champ! I want to grow up and be just like him! Er.. uh.. I mean go back in time, and be just like him!
Excuse me while I go to Toys R Us and buy out the entire Batman collection to be as cool as this kid.
[Thank you to Adrian who dropped the Lego Stanley Cup that this kid made for him. Way to go, man.]
To celebrate, take a look at these Star Wars activities:
Death Star Pinata Defeat the Death Star and get candy! Best day ever.
Yoda Soda 1. Put a scoop of lime sherbet in a glass. 2. Top with Sprite (or Mountain Dew if you’re like Jill.) 3. Feel the force growing stronger. Delish!
We can kick ass and smell like strawberries while doing it.
I want this picture framed in my home, so all of my guests know exactly the kind of person I am. The kind that will sword them to death if they make me play with action figures or Rubiks Cubes.
(I kid. I love TMNT and played with their action figures often when I was younger. But I was telling the truth about the Rubiks Cube. I hate that thing.)
Thanks to Geekologie who alerted me to this fine piece of art.
Free Comic Book Day is coming up this Saturday, and I am celebrating by sharing some of my favorite comics this week! Take a look at yesterday’s post on Night Zero. Or Tuesday’s post on Demo.
Today, I take you into a magical world. That world being high school. Remember those really bitchy, popular girls that would try to take you down with their icy glares and advanced eye rolls? What if they had superpowers other than their blackmail on teachers and daddy’s credit card?
This ain’t no Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The graphic novel reads like a wittier, current Mean Girls. And these girls are, indeed, mean. You’re rooting for the anti-hero, and you have a great time doing it.
But don’t worry boys, the writing and action is funny, fast paced, and cool enough to keep you hooked even if catty teenage girls aren’t your thing.
This book does have some swearing, smoking, and talk of sexual situations, so I wouldn’t recommend giving it to your lil sis. But anyone that is currently in or has ever been in high school will feel right at home.
You can buy it on Amazon or pick it up at your local comic store.
If you’re in the Portland area on Saturday, make sure you stop by Things From Another World on Sandy Blvd. from 4 to 7. Spell Checkers Author Jamie S. Rich and illustrator Joëlle Jones will be signing!
Where will I be on Free Comic Book Day? Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post where I let you know when and where you can find me, as well as what books I’ll be excited to buy!
Before you shower, next time ask yourself “Do I want just a shower? Or do I want to bathe myself in the force with the Rebel & Empire alliance?” That should be a sexy time! ……With yourself. *awkward* DID I MENTION THEY HAVE SNES CARTRIDGE BAR SOAP?!
Free Comic Book Day is coming up this Saturday, and I am celebrating by sharing some of my favorite comics this week!
What’s that? You haven’t been to Free Comic Book Day before? It’s only the most amazing day ever! Like Christmas, but you just get comic books. (Or maybe that is your Christmas, lucky duck!) Check out the website to find the nearest participating comic shop to you. You get some free select comic books, and it’s a great day to support your local shop… Perhaps you’ll be inspired to pick up some of the comics I’ll be mentioning this week! A lot of stores also do special events like photo ops or free signings.
I became a fan of author Brian Wood through Local, and ending up buying the paperback volume on Amazon on a whim. Not knowing what to expect, I started reading.
Demo is a collection of one-off stories about teenagers coming to terms with what makes them unique. Oftentimes, these characters have superpowers. But that doesn’t make this your average superhero story. These are darker, introspective, and focused on the character instead of the action. My kind of story.
Although Demo originally came out in 2003, it is now back with six more stories in the form of Demo Volume 2. These comics are being sold individually (as comics are oft to do), but will probably come out with a paperback collection at the end of the run. The first couple issues are available in your comic store now. I’ve read the first, and look forward to picking up the second on Saturday!
If you like flawed, introspective characters and neat thought-provoking endings, this is the comic for you.
Stay tuned… on Friday I’ll let you know when and where I’ll be on Free Comic Book Day. Hope to see you there!
The only thing that makes me tear up more than Scott Stapp’s emotional performance of the National Anthem at the 2010 Marlin’s game, is the amazing voice of Master Chief, singing “One More Snipe.”
With hits like ‘Bulltrue Colors,’ ‘Against All Oddballs,’ and ‘K-k-killing Spree,’ who needs artists like Josh Groban or Andrea Boccelli anymore when you have the smash hits of ‘Master Chief SINGS!’
