Kung-Fu Live! [5 comments]

September 7, 2010

The Zaxy girls had a BLAST at PAX, and will be bringing you all kinds of goodies and new games throughout the week. Our first post is one of the silliest and most fun activities we did: Kung-Fu Live. Using the Playstation Eye, Kung-Fu Live puts you in the game as a badass fighter. You can fight pre-set enemies, or hand your friends controllers and have them play against you.

The game was pretty darn responsive, and would even allow you to bring in weapons (so if you want to fight with a sword, it can make that happen). It’s a lot of fun to see your actual self in a video game!

Check out the video of us giving the game a try:

You are guaranteed to look ridiculous, get sweaty, and have an amazing time while playing.

Be on the lookout for the game coming to the PSN later this Fall!

GTA for the Kinect? [6 comments]

July 27, 2010

…Just check out the video. (NSFW for language!)

Ahh, now that’s some good clean gaming fun, courtesy of Zaxy lady Kristina, and one of my BFFs Sara.

Now, I’m pretty excited to give the Kinect a try, but it’s because I know the Kinect isn’t meant for hard-core gamers. If you want to try out some new technology and have a good time, try it. If you want to play an intense game, it probably won’t be your console.

But I do love these videos, courtesy of LaughPong. I had the pleasure of being in some that will be released soon, such as Kinect: Dancing with the Hoff, and Kinect: Halo. Just wait.

Check out more Kinect spoofs at Youtube.com/laughpong and let me know what game YOU would want to see played on Kinect!

Oh Hey! I’m Kristina. [4 comments]

Hello! I suppose I am one of the new Zaxy girls.

It’s a little weird to figure out how to introduce myself on the Internet. It kind of feels like walking into your own house and introducing yourself to strangers who are sitting in your living room for some reason.

So, hello strangers in my living room. I am Kristina, and I am a geek.

(Here I am, rocking out)

My geekdom started young – I was a book nerd, which turned me into a full-fledged Harry Potter nerd. Harry Potter led me to wizard rock (of which I am one member of the band The Parselmouths) which led me to Youtube, where I vlog under the username “italktosnakes”, as well as on the collab channel “fiveawesomegirls”.

Okay, enough about my Internet street cred; I’m about to leave on a month long summer tour with my band, so I wont be posting as often as I’d like. BUT – I’ll be getting some great coverage of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, VidCon (the YouTube conference in LA) and letting you know about any other hilarious stuff I encounter on my adventure.

With that, I’ll leave the rest to Tara.

Kristina

PS. I’m also in an electronic nerdrock band called ALL CAPS that sings about robots, zombies and World of Warcraft. I just thought you’d want to know.

New Zaxy Girl #1: Kristina! [3 comments]

Although the news of Jill leaving is quite sad, I am extremely excited to get to announce the two new lovely ladies joining the Zaxy team.

The first girl is a friend of mine: She’s roommates with one of my friends from college, and I’ve gotten to know her a bit better over the last year or two.

(Here she is as a zombie for Night Zero!)

(Apparently this is her dressed as Sporty Spice hugging a Chicken McNugget sign? I don’t ask questions.)

I have to admit, I was a bit intimidated the first time I met her. You see, Kristina is a bit of a YouTube celebrity. She’s got a huge following (40,000+ subscribers!), but she’s totally sweet, down to earth, and hilarious. You’re going to love her! She also used to write a Lost reaction blog, and I know you guys are into that.

She’s about to go on tour with her bands (I know, right!?), but will be updating us on her adventures on the road. Once she gets back, she’ll be updating us on things like books, comics, movies, and gaming!

She’s a big fan of Harry Potter, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lost, Internet Memes, TV, Movies, and board games.

Watch for her first post following this one. And if you want to get to know her a bit better, feel free to contact her!

Our next Zaxy girl is fresh from E3. Once she gets acquainted to the real world again, she’ll write up a great E3 recap post, and I’ll formally introduce her!

Be on the lookout for a new Zaxy website, some great “About us” pages, and new Zaxy pics in the next couple months!
