Bronies – it’s not a new thing. [5 comments]

October 14, 2011

As a huge fan of the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series, I try very hard to speak only positively of the “herd” that follows the show religiously. But while surfing around on YouTube today, I found this video backing up my theory that boys watching girl cartoons isn’t a new concept.

Admit it, boys. You’ve been secretly watching TV meant for us girls for ages, haven’t you? So the next time you decide to poke fun at a Brony, think back to your childhood. How would you feel if someone find your Carebear VHS tapes? The poster of She-Ra under your bed? The Jem lunch box you stole and then claimed your little sister “lost”.

That’s what I thought.

Kick-Ass Girls: Live Action Street Fighter [6 comments]

February 17, 2011

These girls will kick your ass, and look good while doing it. Yeah, the video is neat and in the Street Fighter style, but the real cool thing is that the girls are actually a part of a fight team: Thousand Pounds Action Company. Hot and powerful? Yes, please! I want to see more awesome role models like these!

Slutty/Geeky Halloween Costumes [12 comments]

September 17, 2010

So we all know by now that Halloween has become some sort of excuse to be slutty for the ladies. In fact, I have some friends that actively try to wear the least amount of clothing as possible.

…But has this tradition gone a little far? Sure, we’ve all seen slutty bumblebees and nurses. And for the geek set, Slave Leia and various superhero costumes are a go-to. But take a look at some of the newest costumes for 2010:

Sexy Ghostbuster
I don’t remember ANY of the Ghostbusters looking like that. Wowza.

Sexy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle

Not often do “sexy”, “mutant”, and “turtle” go in the same sentence.

I love the Ninja Turtles. I’ve wanted to be April since I was a little girl. But be a sexy version of the turtles themselves? Can’t say I’ve ever thought of it. Sadly, my size is already sold out. Looks like this’ll be pretty popular this year.

Sexy Monopoly

…Have these people played a board game before? Since when did Monopoly get sexy? Have I been playing it wrong?
(There is also sexy Twister and Scrabble available.)

And the most frightening of them all… Sexy Sesame Street Characters

Sexy Cookie Monster. I just…. I…. I’m sorry guys. It’s hard to write in between the tears. My childhood is over. My innocence has been taken. There are sexy Sesame Street characters. I… can’t.

(And let’s not even mention the fact that Cookie Monster’s face looks like it’s eating the poor girl ala Brain Slug.)

So guys, what are your thoughts on the costumes? Love ‘em or hate ‘em? And what are your thoughts on ladies that choose to wear these for Halloween? While on that topic, what should the Zaxy ladies be for Halloween?

Zaxy Zombie Video! [4 comments]

July 8, 2010

Take a look at the video of my and Britt’s experience at the Red, White, and Dead walk in Fremont. It was so much fun!

The Dr. Pepper guy was my fave.

Take a look at Britt’s post for pics from the event here!

What object would you go for in Dead Rising? (Hint: The handgun is not a good choice.)

Booth Babe Changes at PAX [12 comments]

June 8, 2010

Photobucket

Our good friends over at Pixelated Geek posted an interesting article today about potential changes to Booth Babe requirements for PAX.

PAX polled their forums, and came up with the following conclusions:
60% of people polled love or like the idea of a “Booth Babe Ban”
20% are indifferent to the idea of a “Booth Babe Ban”

Most people would be alright with banning scantily clad models in exchange for people who actually know about the product they’re representing. Don’t get me wrong, people can be knowledgeable AND attractive, and they’re welcome to wear scantily clad attire if they are cosplaying an accurate representation of a character. This would ban booty short wearing bimbos that are there only to look bored and draw you into their booth.

I am all for this. I think it will encourage women to feel more welcome at conventions, as they’re not just seen as a piece of meat. It will also encourage more open, friendly conversation between the girls at the booths and the visitors, as they’ll actually know their stuff and be excited about the game.

What are your thoughts?
