Sci-Fi/Fantasy Short Film Festival! [2 comments]

January 11, 2011

The time is near for one of my favorite yearly activities: The Science Fiction Fantasy Short Film Festival.

EMP/SFM and SIFF team up to showcase 4 hours worth of short films. Some low budget, some high budget, all amazing. The films all completely range in their storylines, feels, and mediums. At the end of the night, you get a Q&A session with the creators and one of them walks away with the award of “Audience Favorite”. I’ve gone almost every year it’s held, and can still remember some films that I saw in the first year. You’ll instantly forget some, but others will stick with you forever.

Take a look at this year’s trailer:

The festival will be held at the Cinerama in Seattle on January 29th. You can purchase tickets here. (I recommend sticking around for both sessions).

Will I see you there?

Countdown to Futurama: Recap-O-Rama! [2 comments]

June 14, 2010

New episodes of Futurama are less than two weeks away, and I can’t wait. I spent my weekend watching old episodes and trying to figure out how to make Popplers for the special occasion.

Haven’t seen Futurama before? WHY? And more importantly, why not start when it comes back on June 24th?

Here is a short recap narrated by the wonderfully arrogant Zapp Brannigan to get new watchers familiar with the characters, and to remind us older fans why we love the show so much. Seriously, just hearing the opening music gives me happy chills.

Post your fave Futurama epsiode in the comments! (Mine is and always will be Amazon Women In The Mood.)

(And for those living under a space rock, new episodes of Futurama will be aired on Comedy Central starting on Thursday, June 24th at 10pm.)

Back To The Future: The Game? [4 comments]

June 10, 2010

backtothefuture
Telltale Games has teamed up with NBC Universal to create video games in the worlds of Back To The Future and Jurassic Park. Both games are set to release in the winter, with Back To The Future coming first. Or Telltale can take me up on MY idea, and combine them for a wicked cool crossover.

After talks with my friends last night, we’ve decided that the original actors should NOT be used to voice the characters. That would just be uncomfortable.

What do you think about these games? Would you play them?

‘The Witness’ Concept Art [Add a comment]

March 1, 2010

To all you Braid fans, I’m sure you’ll be excited to know that designer Jonathan Blow’s newest project titled, ‘The Witness’ has had a lot of update releases this past week. The game’s official website is fronted with some poetic, ‘Jonathan Blow-ian,’ insightful mumbo jumbo:

(I R ROBOT, THIS DOES NOT COMPUTE)

I have no idea what the crap any of that means but the site later describes the game as “a exploration-puzzle game on an uninhabited island,” so I’m alright.
They also released some concept art which looks pretty promising.

Nifty. Braid was so amazing, let’s hope this can amount to our poetic, philosophical, puzzle-playing satisfaction. It’s just too bad we have to wait til late 2011! Sad face.
