Apple’s infamous iPad is scheduled for release sometime in the month of April. However, pre-orders for the tablet are now officially available today!
This brings me to ask a question. (And answer honestly because I know its ‘SOOOOoOooOoo CoOL‘ and funny to hate the iPad just like everyone else on the internet.)
DO YOU WANT ONE?
HONESTLY, I’m not afraid to admit that although I was thoroughly disappointed and had much higher hopes for the tablet, I have come to some terms with the iPad. Even though it’s not the Mac OS laptop panini sandwhich I had ordered, I still can find this product very useful. I did expect a lot more and yes, I already have an 32g iPod Touch with all the apps and doo-dads and what not, but have you ever tried to sufficiently surf the web on those dinky things? I can barely stand it! I hate it! I can’t get anything done on those, it takes an hour to compose an email and log in to places, and I certainly don’t like using such a small screen if I don’t have to. I’m not saying I want to purchase an iPad, there are many alternatives to choose from like the JooJoo Tablet, HP’s Slate, Archo’s Home Tablet(s), ect… but who can tell me which of all the alternatives is legitimately the better pick in comparison to the iPad?
Ahh. The Mac vs. PC advertisement spoofs do not get old.
Funny, if I wasn’t a Mac owner who lost my PC in my parents’ garage! However, now Justin Long can point a small finger right back at Mr. PC Fat Man! The month of April has a lot in store for Apple’s neglected gaming platform.
“And then Valve said, LET THERE BE LIGHT!”
“March 8, 2010 – Valve announced today it will bring Steam, Valve’s gaming service, and Source, Valve’s gaming engine, to the Mac. Steam and Valve’s library of games including Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series will be available in April.” via Valve News
This means that Mac users as well as PC users can share the excitement of simultaneous releases, like the much anticipated “Portal 2,” set to arrive later this year! Mac users get ready to stop crying over boring game apps, get off your ichat and get on board the Steam train!
Some of you (few.. but still some!) have asked me,”What are some good games for Mac?”
Being that Mac has not fully branched out into the gaming world, there are not a whole lot of games for you to choose from. However, this week brought some good news for all you Mac Daddies out there… Direct2Drive is having a sale on all their Mac games! And there’s a lot of great titles for you to pick from!
Louie Sulcer, a 71 year-old retired grandpa from Woodstock, Georgia was the lucky 10 billionth download winner on iTunes. He won $10,000 in free music as well as a personal phone call from Steve Jobs. Louie got his first iPod Nano last October for his birthday and after winning the $10,000 prize, he took a nap.
First things first, Happy President’s Day! This day means so much to me! Being a person who works on holidays, I can finally find easy parking and get to work with no Seattle traffic. Amazing! What a joyus day! (What fore-fathers? Abe & George, who?)
Now back to the important stuff, Microsoft displayed and announced the Windows Phone 7 Series, a phone that has been long awaited by Microsoft/Window’s fans since the iPhone’s release 3 years ago. If you havent checked it out or watched the video yet, click here!
Feeling like I now live in the stone age with my touchscreen-less, no internet, scotch-tape enhanced, Blackberry Pearl that I purchased over 5 years ago, I feel like its finally time to step out of my comfort zone and consider a new phone. But now for the real question, which direction do I go? The Apple iPhone? Google’s Nexus 1? And now that the Windows Phone 7 Series is thrown into the mix, (-P.S. what kind of name is that?) this is a big decision to make!
Being someone who is definitely in between the Apple vs. Microsoft war, simple decisions have become extremely complicated with all the choices & conflicting limitations from both sides. Which products will work with this & that, who has what and which one works better, it’s a constant battle that must be settled with one solution: GIMMIE ONE!
Now here is something that sparkled my eye about the Windows Phone 7 Series. It will have Xbox Live. (Its going to have touchscreen! It’s going to have Windows! And it’s going to have XBOX LIVE! BIYAAAAAAAAAH! -Howard Dean) “But theres already a bajillion different games for mobile devices and some phones can already connect to XBL through certain applications!” So what does this really mean? Here’s what Microsoft’s said:
“Games—This hub delivers the first and only official Xbox LIVE experience on a phone, including Xbox LIVE games, Spotlight feed and the ability to see a gamer’s avatar, Achievements and gamer profile. With more than 23 million active members around the world, Xbox LIVE unlocks a world of friends, games and entertainment on Xbox 360, and now also on Windows Phone 7 Series.”
I’m excited to see what the Windows Phone 7 Series has in store. I might not wait til the 2010 holiday season to purchase a new phone, but at least I’m happy to be looking forward to one! What do you guys think about the Windows Phone 7 Series?
The morning of January 27th filled me with nothing but disappointment. Apple’s much anticipated announcement of their newest creation & rumored Apple Tablet left me violently excited for weeks! Up all night looking at forums, talking about every idea I could imagine for it, January 27th felt like it was going to be Christmas!
Now, I don’t really know what I was expecting, (HOLOGRAM COMPUTER/TIME MACHINE/CURE FOR CANCER) but with all the hype surrounding the product, I was expecting some kind of ingenious miracle. Instead, all we got was Christmas with the Griswolds, and the iPad being the unwanted Cousin Eddie.
Excuse me, did you folks say ‘new creation?’ Pish posh! It’s an upgraded iPod Touch! An iPad Touch!! Thanks Apple. If I wanted to spend $500 on another iPod Touch, them’ better be some goooood applications!
