Review: 2 Sisters [1 comment]

Posted in Comics.

You may remember that Top Shelf loaded me up with some comics to review at Emerald City Comicon. I just finished the first one, and oh my goodness. It’s amazing.

2 Sisters is unlike many other graphic novels I’ve read. It’s serious, quiet, and smart. I pride myself in being able to guess plot lines and endings of stories, but this one threw some twists at me I was not expecting. The style of artwork and minimalistic writing is different than other graphic novels I’ve read, and took a couple pages to get used to, but once I did, I was fully immersed. The story focuses on Elle, a woman who, through a turn of events, becomes a spy during World War 2. We also see information on her sister and her past intertwined with stories of empowered women throughout the ages.

If you’re looking for something a bit different than your average graphic novel, I definitely encourage you pick this up. You can get it from Amazon, Top Shelf, or your local comic store.
