For those mildly disappointed that the next two Pixar films in the works are merely sequels to Cars and Monster’s Inc, never fear. Their new original work Brave is right on track to knock our socks off as much as the rest of their originals.
Concept art was first released a little while ago, and as seen on thefilmstage.com, they stayed pretty true to their earlier ideas with this new image of the Heroin Merida.
If you’ve heard nothing yet about Brave, it’s Pixar’s first endeavor working with a female main character. The story itself is about an unruly Princess who lives in the mythical Scottish highlands and accidentally brings chaos to the kingdom by defying a sacred custom.
I’m pretty pumped. As a princess movie and Pixar fangirl, I have high hopes for this film. Do you think Brave will live up to the hype?
You know those moments you get every once in a while, where it just hits you that you’re growing older and things are changing, and eras are coming to a close?
This letter brought one of those moments on for me.
I am going to be a messy, crying wreck for the last movie. Along with the rest of my friends.
I’ve always been a fan of the Finebros’ “Kids React” series on YouTube, but this one struck a particular chord in my heart as I sat there watching adorable children react the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailer.
While I’m a little disappointed that some of the kids don’t seem to think reading is cool (come on, parents) I’m glad to know that this younger generation of children is still playing Whomping Willow freeze tag on the playgrounds, rather than inventing some sort of Twilight games. I mean, what games would they even play? Jump off the cliff into freezing water? Pretend we sparkle in the sun? Lie to everyone we know and love because of this new boy we have a crush on?
Thanks again, Harry, for saving the youth of the world.
Reddit user checkthegate was asked to re-make “Charlie Bit My Finger” by a film festival, so he did it in a slightly more… undead… fashion. This is one of the best zombie-related anything I’ve seen in a long time.
Seriously. My heart’s still beating pretty hard. Sheesh.
So, you’ve heard that the Hunger Games movie is in production, right? Good.
If you’ve been following the news of the casting that’s been coming out in the past few weeks, you’ll know we already have a handful of the characters/actors announced:
Katniss Everdeen: Jennifer Lawrence Peeta Mellark: Josh Hutcherson Thresh: Dayo Okeniyi Rue: Amandla Stenberg Marvel: Jack Quaid Glimmer: Leven Rambin
But if you want to follow the casting of the remainder of the Tributes, there’s this cool page on Facebook you can follow that they’ve been updating with each District’s tributes as they come in. It’s kind of creepy actually; each District’s boy and girl has been cast and announced at the same time (which I’m sure is something they’re doing on purpose). It’s like a present day Reaping. I hope these actors know what they’re signing up for…
Okay. I’ll be honest, there isn’t really news, exactly. But in a recent interview Joss Whedon did with the New York Times, he confirmed that not only do he and the rest of the Dr. Horrible team want to create a sequel, they’re actually working on it. Kind of. They have four songs.
And hey! That’s better than no news, right?
The issue is that, since the original Sing Along Blog was created during the 2007-08 writer’s strike, no one on the production team is going to have that kind of free time again for a long time. With Joss working on Avengers and all of the lead actors being perpetually busy with all of their own projects, the Dr. Horrible sequel is something that must be done in the space between, which could take a long time.
But everyone is still enthusiastically on board, so we can just keep our fingers crossed, and hope interviewers keep pestering them about it so the motivation doesn’t wane over time.
Plans are to release the sequel on the big screen rather than online – do you think this will make it even more epic than the first one, or that the mainstream release will detract from the low buget, forward thinking charm of the original? I’m torn, but I feel the project is in safe hands with Joss Whedon and whatever happens, it’ll be worth the wait.
Now let’s just hope Joss was joking about naming it “Dr. Horrible and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
With all the talk of Dead Island today, I thought I should remind you all of the danger of zombies, and the best ways to prepare yourself. This infographic’s been making its way around the web this past week:
I’m surprised Kristina didn’t beat me at posting this, but HA! I got here first.
This thing is chock-full of interesting facts. And with the blustery week Seattle’s been having, I’d love nothing more than to cuddle up with some ButterBeer and Harry Potter. Probably Goblet of Fire, as that was my fave.
