I received a lovely little package from Gamer Food last week, and couldn’t wait to try their energy bars. These bars are healthy, full of caffeine, and have names inspired by some of your favorite games.
When I first bit into the cookie dough-flavored bar, I was a bit surprised. This isn’t a candy bar replacement. This is uber healthy, and a bit tangy. Although it doesn’t quite compare to a handful of real cookie dough, it definitely makes me feel better. (Seriously. I’ve eaten a tube of cookie dough before. Delicious at the moment, regrettable for the rest of the night.) Almost all of the ingredients (including the vanilla extract) are organic, and there’s nothing listed in the ingredients that I don’t recognize.
If you and your Gamer friends are interested in taking a break from pizza and cheetos and want a healthier (and less messy) option for snacking while gaming, then this is the thing for you. AND Gamer Food wants to give one of you a dozen Gamer Food bars for your next party! Just do one (or both) of the following:
Then leave a comment below letting us know what you did. If you do both, it’s worth two entries, just leave two separate comments. I’ll randomly select a winner on Friday, April 8th at 12pm PDT! But be warned: We will be checking to make sure the winner actually did what they claimed they did!
So what are you waiting for? Go win some Gamer Food!
EDIT: A winner has been picked! We’re just waiting for verification that they actually did what they said they did, and then we’ll announce!
Wow! You guys rocked that contest. Thanks for all of your entries! It looks like the clear favorite shirt design was “Superpower Up” with the “Union Jack Skull” coming in second, so we may need to keep that in mind for future contests. ;-)
Winners were chosen based on the selection of sizes and designs we had available. I used a random number generator to pick between those shirts that had multiple correct guesses for it.
Tara and Kristina have been holding down the fort while I’ve been somewhat MIA. But, let me tell you a little of what I’ve been up to.
MOVING.
In case some of you have yet to move, let me tell you what moving entails.
A LOT OF TIME AND ENERGY. AND A LOT OF BOXES.
Now, let me tell you a positive of moving.
YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN MAN/WOMAN CAVE.
And that’s what I’ve been doing. Let me show you pictures of my woman cave.
This was taken before my computer was set up.
Mostly done!

Video game board games, Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter's Edition, Final Fantasy 9 action figures, guide books, etc etc.
Nintendo Power/ Misc magazines I've collected over the years
More stuff that wouldn't fit anywhere else!
It is still a work in progress, and seeing as I’ve pratically ignored all other rooms of my new pad, I still have a lot of work to do before I’m totally settled in.
We all have our favorite gaming t-shirts. It’s probably something you got from PAX, and it’s now worn out, has holes in it, and probably shouldn’t be worn out of the house. It’s time we upgrade our wardrobes!
Joystick Junkies describes itself as a charismatic fusion of video gaming and savvy-street fashion. It was founded in London, and just recently expanded to the US. Guys, their shirts are not only cool looking, but they’re super comfortable and well made. PLUS, they have girly shirts and accessories, which means there’s something for everyone! And lucky for you, they gave us SIX shirts to giveaway!
How do you win one of these awesome shirts? Simple. Comment below with your shirt size (free shirts are in adult/unisex sizes M and L) and top two favorite designs from their site. If you pick one of the design/size combinations we have, you win a shirt! (If more than one person picks the same design and size combination, we’ll randomly draw between the correct entrants). You have until 12:00pm PST Tuesday, April 5th. We’ll announce the winners later that day!
So what are you waiting for? Check out Joystick Junkies and comment for your chance to win!
Valentine’s Day is coming up, and the Zaxy ladies are looking for their Valentine. Want that to be you? Leave a comment below with your geeky dream date. If you had all the money, time, and resources in the world (real or fictional): what would you do? Points for creativity!
We’ll pick our favorite, and the winner will receive a handmade valentine from us! (Warning: I love making puns and bad haikus!)
Details: Contest runs from today (February 2nd) to Wednesday, February 9th. We’ll announce the winner and have them contact us with their address so we can send the Valentine. Winner and prize is completely up to the Zaxy ladies. Based on awesomeness of entries, there may be more than one prize winner. Valentine may include other goodies/swag as we see fit. Prize winner must not be allergic to glitter. Because Valentine’s Day is only a few days after we pick the winner, we’re going to limit prize winners to residents of the United States only (but we really do love all of our readers from around the world!).
EDIT: We have our winners! The ladies each picked one and will be making individual valentines for them. Tune in on Valentine’s Day to see a video showing the valentines and why the ladies picked who they did! The following guys should send their address to tara@zaxy.com so we can get your valentines out promptly! Grayson, Derrick, and griff56! Congrats!
Okay, sure. I never got my Hogwarts letter when I turned 11. No half-giant kicked down my door and brought me a soggy birthday cake, I never set any snakes lose on my awful cousin, and I’ve come to terms with the fact that I am, in fact, a Muggle.
But should we really make it this OBVIOUS?
Cool bike, bro. Mounting your broom on a set of wheels does not make you a wizard. It makes you a dork. You’d be laughed out of Quidditch tryouts on that thing. Malfoy would do more to you than throw your Remembrall in the air; he’d probably give you a swirly. A wizard swirly.
That aside, though? I’d probably wanna ride it. Just not in public.
Ok guys… The holidays are over and the Zaxy girls are all actually in town. We’re gearing up for another one of our slumber parties near the end of January, and I’d love to hear YOUR suggestions!
We usually play some games, chat about Zaxy, surf the internet, and eat lots of junk food. So what should we do this time?
Do you have a suggestion for a product/game you want us to try? A recipe/snack you want us to make? Websites we should check out? Other APPROPRIATE things we should do?
Seriously. I mean, pillow fights are always a possibility. But they are scary and ruthless. Let’s keep our suggestions friendly for the whole family.
We’re thinking of livestreaming parts of the night and will give you a heads up the day of with a link. If we use your suggestion, we’ll give you some shout outs!
If you MUST have context, it looks like these photos/video were created by Dan Saelinger for the current issue of Fortune magazine. Apparently to get the right shot, 10 Xbox 360s and 8 Xbox controllers were destroyed. (gulp!)
