A Big Week for Mortal Kombat [6 comments]

Mortal Kombat has had a big week! Earlier, we saw a launch of a gritty short film many thought was a trailer to an upcoming movie. Looks like the film was made as a pitch for a full length feature, but no decisions have been made yet.

Now, straight from E3, we see a trailer for a gorgeously violent new Mortal Kombat, coming in 2011.

What are your thoughts on Mortal Kombat? Love the game? Excited for the new one? Want a new movie? Did you also cringe with the saw to the crotch at the end of the game trailer?

  1. i hope the movie becomes a reality and the game looks sick as hell. i hope there is a hands on at e3

  2. Saw the film a few days ago and had a nerdgasm. I loved it. If they make a movie with the same tone and style, I’d be impressed.

  3. I grew up on Mortal Kombat from arcades to SNES. Can’t wait for this new game! Looks like a great update to an old favorite.

  4. I always had high hopes for a good Mortal Kombat movie. Looks like I just might get it finally. That’s a better plot than the original one just from the 7 minutes they showed.

As for the game I’m not too impressed. They’re too repetitive. It’d be nice if they required different combinations, and most characters have similar moves. But I’d love it if they made a full length Mortal Kart (an expansion from the mini-kart in MK: Armageddon).

  5. This is actually a pitch to make a reimagined Mortal Kombat movie. It was made to sell Warner Bros. on the idea of a new direction to perhaps take the film franchise. It would be interesting to see this dying franchise get a face lift with a darker movie in synchronization with the “M” rated MK game that they want to release.
This could actually be quite exciting.

  6. They need a new M.K. movie and bring the game back to it’s roots.
